On Nov. 22, 1974 the Fall Creek Regional Waste District was created by the action of the Indiana Stream Pollution Control Board under the direction of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

In September 1985, the Fall Creek Regional Waste District wastewater treatment plant began operation.

In 1989, the District contracted with the Town of Markleville to serve the town as a wholesale customer.

In 1992, the District expanded the service territory by including all of Green Township, about 23 square miles of which was not previously served.

In 2002, the conventional activated sludge plant was expanded.
