What is a sprinkling credit and when is it applied?

(Click for Sprinkling Credit Application in PDF)

During the months of July, August, September and October, the District offers a Sprinkling Credit to all water customers.  The District will calculate a six month average of your water usage and use the result as your consumption for the applicable months.  For example:  if your average usage is 6,000 gallons of water and you use 10,000 gallons of water, you will only be billed for the 6,000 gallons.  Further, if your average is 6,000 gallons and you use 4,000 gallons, you will only be charged for 4,000 gallons.  This adjustment is by Application only.  If you have previously received this credit, you will automatically receive a new Application in the Spring.  If this is your first time to apply for a Sprinkling Credit, contact the Office and an Application will be mailed to you.

How does the sprinkling credit work?

Your FCRWD bill is based off of your water consumption. This is because the water you use that comes down your drains is sent to us to be treated. So we receive all your readings from your water company.

In the summer, most of our customers water their lawn/garden. The water being used to do this is not coming to us to be treated. This is where the sprinkling credit comes in. For our established customers, we figure out the average reading and bill for that reading if there is a higher usage. For new customers we use the national average of 5,000 gallons and bill for that reading if there is a higher usage. If there is a lesser reading being billed for, we will bill for that amount instead of the average.

Example

 ∙Average is 5,000 gallons.

∙Usage for month is 10,000 gallons.

∙You will be billed for the 5,000 instead of the 10,000 gallons.

∙Average is 5,000 gallons.

∙Usage for month is 2,000 gallons.

∙You will be billed for the 2,000 gallons due to the fact it is less than the average set for the sprinkling months.
